Are you upping your cardio time at the gym and the scale doesn’t seem to move? Do you wish you knew the secret to achieving that lean body you are working so hard to get? What if the answer isn’t adding 20 extra minutes to your draining treadmill time, but changing your location to the weight room instead?

It’s possible, and the good news is that shorter strength training workouts can lead to greater rewards.

If you’re like most mamas, you don’t have 2 hours to work out at the gym every day. The truth is you barely have 30 to 45 minutes to get in a good sweat session. You want to make your health a priority, but it has to fit your busy lifestyle.

In today’s episode, I’ll review all the benefits of weight training, and how weight training for weight loss doesn’t mean adding bulk.

Whether it’s being able to lift your toddler up above your head, or feeling confident in your clothes, weight training is how to get lean and toned

Benefits of Weight Training

Let me start by saying that lifting heavy weights -10, 20, or 25 pounds will not turn your body into looking like a professional athlete or bodybuilder. That body type is a skill and I think a lot of women equate heavy weights to getting bulky.

I help my clients lose weight through strength training. Muscle weighs more than fat, but it also burns more fat at rest. I focus on getting my clients strong so their bodies can work properly and continue to burn fat even when they are not working out

Give Yourself a “Toned” Look

Strength training gives your body a more toned and sculpted look. Adding muscles to your shoulders and legs gives you a really lean look because the eyes are naturally drawn toward these areas of your body.

Training increases your confidence in your physical abilities too. It provides confidence when trying new and challenging things. You understand you are stronger physically and training aids in mental toughness too.

You have an increased calorie burn in recovery. Post-workout you can continue to burn calories up to four hours after a strength training session.

I get that you want to be fit but you are a busy mom! Strength training gives you the most reward in the shortest time.

Strength training lowers your risk of injury because your muscles are more balanced and work in their proper range of motion. You become more aware of your body and how it moves. You are more in tune with aches and pains and the practices of correcting your body to work properly because you have been spending time focusing on strength training.

Using combination moves that work the upper and lower body together increases your heart rate and provides your cardiovascular system the same benefits of cardio exercise.
